Wow. I just checked my email account, and saw that I registered with Squidoo on the 19th of June! I can’t believe it’s only been one month! I feel like I’ve been obsessed with the place for a lot longer than that!
And how am I doing so far?
Well I’m not really sure, but it feels like I’m doing ok! So by completely unbiased self-assessment I’ll say I’m doing great!
Today I’ve got six lenses in the top 10,000. Which I think is cool. My top lens is Planning a trip to an Australian Zoo or Wildlife Sanctuary? which is today ranked at 1,280 overall. My goal is for it to crack the top 1,000 some time in the next week!
I’ve just noticed that it’s ranked at 80 in Animals and Nature! Woohoo!
I’m going to visit Taronga Zoo this week, so I’ll be adding some fresh, up to date information about my trip which should hopefully be the sort of useful information that will bring people to the lens
The other cool thing I’ve got going on at the moment is my Beijing Olympics 2008 Group! When I started it I wasn’t really sure that people would join… but now I’m getting a couple of lenses coming in every day! It’s growing, slowly but surely, which is good because I can keep up to date checking out the lenses and featuring them in an organised fashion on the HQ lens!
Ok, enough rambling for one morning ![]()

Good for you Kanga.
Actually getting in the top 10,000 really just requires having some traffic and a new lens, because quite a lot of lenses are old, but I expect to see some of yours rise into the top 1,000 this week the way that they are going, maybe even further.
Picking the Olympics is a good idea - you should get some traffic there. Of course it may fade soon after.
Seasonal lenses are always good - Christmas for example - you get a lot of traffic for a month or two, maybe three, but EVERY YEAR! You just need to improve the lenses and add to them each year.

The traffic side of things is all new to me, that’s where I think I have the most learning to do! I don’t expect to ever get a whole lot of traffic for quite a few of my lenses just because they’re on subjects that not a lot of people are interested in, but that’s cool, I made them because I enjoyed making them
The Olympics thing will be short term, but that’s ok. At least I can have a go at looking after a group, and getting some traffic. It’ll be a good learning experience.
Thank you so much for your comment
